The history behind Georgia’s moniker as the “Peach” state is not well-known. Its troubling history silences a gruesome past and fails to acknowledge the importance of agriculture, sustainability, and community in the present day.
Approach
The history behind Georgia’s moniker as the “Peach” state is not well-known. Its troubling history silences a gruesome past and fails to acknowledge the importance of agriculture, sustainability, and community in the present day.
Results
These efforts seeded the approach and fundraising strategy for a living exhibit designed to share the complex history of Georgia's association with the peach and its agri-cultural impacts on the present day. All vendors (culinary, venue, photography, and set design) were women and Black-owned businesses.
